Just like its shape, the island is named “Crescent Island”. The island isn’t big, but is surely entitled to be called the most peaceful place on Earth.

Samsung WB1000(TL320) │ 1/1000s │ f/4.0 │ ISO 80 │ 4.3mm

To enter the island, you need to take a boat. Because water has dried in the Lake Naivasha, you can also get to the island by road, but then, what’s the fun? Approaching the island on boat is much more exciting.

Samsung WB1000(TL320) │ 1/1500s │ f/4.0 │ ISO 80 │ 4.3mm

You are greeted by a small sign that reads Crescent Island.

Samsung WB1000(TL320) │ 1/90s │ f/5.8 │ ISO 80 │ 21.5mm

This island gained popularity with the movie “Out of Africa”. It is also well known as the scene for the Tomb Raider that starred Angelina Jolie. The ancestors of the animals living here now were the ones relocated for the movie shooting. Then, the lake was deep that the animals were trapped on the island. But now, many animals escape the island by crossing the land.

This place is practically the one and only walking safari in Kenya. There are no carnivores that can harm humans. You may want to watch out for hippos, 3~4 meter long snakes and hyena that appear occasionally at night.

Samsung WB1000(TL320) │ 1/250s │ f/5.8 │ ISO 80 │ 18.9mm

However, this island breathes of wild life just like all the other national parks in Africa. This is the rough thorn of acacia tree that giraffes eat.

Samsung WB1000(TL320) │ 1/350s │ f/4.0 │ ISO 100 │ 4.3mm

The garden of a hotel located near the lake where I had delicious coffee right after the walking safari!

In Samburu, there is a spring called ‘Buffalo Springs’ that never runs dry. The water is very clean that you can directly drink off it. It also serves as an important source of water for the wild life.

Samsung WB1000(TL320) 1/180s │ f/4.0 │ ISO 100 │ 4.3mm

The water from the spring flows to form a small river. The water here is also crystal clear and transparent. Although in the midst of the desert, the water is freezing cold.

Samsung WB1000(TL320) 1/250s │ f/2.8 │ ISO 100 │ 4.3mm

The travel agency is finally here to pick us up. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary van that you often see on the road, but the ceiling is wide open, providing a better view of the animals. From time to time, the van breaks down and stops on the middle of the road.

Samsung WB1000(TL320) 1/1000s │ f/7.5 │ ISO 100 │ 21.5mm

This is Mount Kenya, located on the southern hemisphere, covered with snow all year round. Its highest peak is 5,199 meters. It is one of the highest mountains in Africa and the highest volcanic mountain. Professional ice wall climbing skills are required to climb the mountain.

Semi-desert with scorching heat and permanent snow located not too distant from each other – the uniqueness of Kenya is more than enough to attract the footsteps of many tourists from around the world.

Well, besides from the random pictures from Buenos Aires i could also say something about the world cup but what a disappointment. So sad for ArgentinaI’m speechless :(

So, let’s go to the photos :)

[Samsung PL150(TL210) │ 1/180s │ f/3.9 │ ISO 80 │ 13.2mm]

A little kid watching something, maybe his shadow? Maybe he couldn’t understand why it was so large.

[Samsung PL150(TL210) │ 1/750s │ f/3.5 │ ISO 200 │ 4.9mm]

Shadows, lights and some random guy with his random bike. Using the black and white mode of the camera.

[Samsung PL150(TL210) │ 1/250s │ f/4.0 │ ISO 200 │ 6.6mm]

You’ve got mail! And they’ll bring it to you with this ultramodern flying Van. Not the best picture around, but I kinda like the colors and the lighting.

[Samsung PL150(TL210) │ 1/125s │ f/8.9 │ ISO 80 │ 4.9mm]

This auto and that arrow cached my attention. One great feature of this camera is the possibility of choosing the 16:9 picture format used in HD TV and movies. I find that very inspiring :)

[Samsung PL150(TL210) │ 1/250s │ f/11.0 │ ISO 240 │ 7.8mm]

So, what the hell is this anyway? I love everything that has an urban feeling and I loved this immediately, but”¦ still trying to figure out what this is. Any ideas you people???

More urban stuff and me doing stupid things. Ohh how I loved those red shoes. They are on the shoe’s heaven now, I used them so much that they got broken! Sniff :(

[Samsung PL150(TL210) │ 1/6s │ f/3.5 │ ISO 400 │ 3.5mm]

One of the great things of this camera is the possibility to edit photos straight from it. You have many different color modes and you can add vignettes (those darker corners that I love so much). This is an example of that.

[Samsung PL150(TL210) │ 1/750s │ f/3.5 │ ISO 200 │ 4.9mm]

[Samsung PL150(TL210) │ 1/180s │ f/3.5 │ ISO 200 │ 4.9mm]

One of the most enjoyable things is the miniature mode (also known as tilt shift). You want to make something look like a toy? Then this camera allows to that with only one click. This two photos are examples of that. Anyway, the best results are from aerial (or elevated ground)shots, something I still had not the chance to do. Oh”¦ and if you ever use this mode not forget to boost saturation (you can do that with the camera as well) since toys normally have vibrant colors.

[Samsung PL150(TL210) │ 1/60s │ f/5.0 │ ISO 80 │ 9.3mm]

One cool lamp post :)

[Samsung PL150(TL210) │ 1/125s │ f/3.5 │ ISO 80 │ 4.9mm]

Last but not least, the ultimate fish eye mode is yours with only one click ;)

Though you do not want to use this mode all the time because the distortion can get annoying for normal family photos, you can have really fun with this. Like always, it’s a matter of letting your imagination flow.

Maasai Mara is the unparalled animal kingdom in Kenya. Over the period of June to October, more than a million wildebeest cross the Mara River to reach Tanzania. These pictures were taken at early June, which is a bit early, but Maasai Mara promises spectacular view all year round.

For the night, I rented a tent that costs a little over $600. Those visiting here for the first time, the sound of hyena and lions crying are sure to steal their good night’s sleep. The tent is equipped with a classy shower room, bathroom and desk.

Now- driving time! Thomson’s Gazelle and zebras pass right by. A few animals that fell behind their herd. Deeply wounded male are left to die as they are no longer capable of hunting. However, female can mate with a new male to build a new family and herd.

Samsung WB1000(TL320) │ 1/1500s │ f/3.6 │ ISO 100 │ 4.3mm

Male lion, not bothered an inch by the sight of tourists lying idly on the grass as if the bushes were its home. In fact, male lions spend of their time sleeping. Thus, sleeping lions is a familiar sight.

Samsung WB1000(TL320) │ 1/1500s │ f/5.6 │ ISO 100 │ 4.3mm

This is Sand River where the wildebeest will cross. It’s full of water now, but the water diminishes in July and August and reveals the bottom of the river made of sand - thus the name “Sand River”.

Samsung WB1000(TL320) │ 1/1500s │ f/4.0 │ ISO 100 │ 4.3mm

Mara River finds itself on the upper region of the Sand River. This is where the famous crossing of the wildebeest takes place. The river is fraught with alligators and hippos.

The hippos living in the Mara River are especially charming. Mostly nocturnal, they stay in the water during the day time to control their temperature and come out at night to much on grass. Spotting hippos biting wildebeest to death, people tend to think that hippos eat wildebeest, but this is not true. Hippos cannot digest carnivores of that size. It’s simply that they bite them to death because they are angry for having their territory invaded.

Hawkes, an award-winning photographer who has explored the world taking aerial shots from a helicopter, has shot a number of dramatic city night scenes over the last twenty years and partnered with Samsung to test the EX1(TL500)‘s performance in these extreme conditions. The project, called ‘Samsung Nightscapes’, sees images of familiar, well-loved locations around the British capital, taken from a helicopter, being brought to life. The results of the project, Hawkes’ images and opinions on the EX1(TL500) can be viewed here.

The launch of the Samsung Nightscapes collection coincides with the opening of consumer sales of the EX1(TL500), which is now available to buy in stores across the world. The 10 mega-pixel EX1(TL500), as a high-end compact digital camera designed specifically for today’s advanced and enthusiast photographers, is the new flagship model of the company’s extensive compact digital camera range.

Hawkes commented: “I’ve always loved taking aerial shots of urban landscapes. the perspective and layout that of a city that you see from the air is a totally different story from that on the ground, and shooting at night means that you can get the most dramatic images.”

He continued: “The EX1(TL500) is a very impressive and intuitive compact camera, with a great build. It has a remarkable set of features, such as the bright f/1.8 Schneider lens, which would be valuable for any photography enthusiast, and I was pleased to be able to test the extent of its capabilities during the low-light conditions on the shoot. The swivelling AMOLED screen on the back of the camera is a great feature, and proved useful in the helicopter during the shoot. And finally, the ability to work with RAW files was also a real bonus for a camera within this category until now this has often remained within the domain of the pro models.”

With good public transportation and affordable price, Mobasa tops the national parks with poor road infrastructure and expensive price as a famous winter resort for not only Kenyans but also for Europeans.
This region experienced countless battles in the past. This is where Europeans arrived on ships for colonial rule, and thus where slave trade took place. In fact, the coastal areas of Kenya centering on Mombasa continues to house many Germans and Italians and many locations also follow their name. Busy with tourists all year-round, make sure to book for hotels well in advance if you plan to stop by.

With hot temperature, this area is surrounded by coconut trees. You can sometimes hear a “thump”. According to the hotel manager, the coconuts are picked before they fall, but people are sometimes hit.

Samsung Electronics has provided the author of this article with the mentioned digital imaging device.

Whenever you see a touristic brochure about Buenos Aires, Caminito, in the La Boca Neighborhood, is a classic. And like with every classic place, either you love it or you hate it. It’s one of those places you have to see with your own eyes and probably the place everyone will expect to see on your travel photos.

When many inmigrants came from Italy, most of them from Genoa, they settled in this part of the city, where the port would gave them the chance to start a new life in the American continent [Important fact: America is not a country but a whole continent so we argentines are also Americans. Just to let you know ;)]. They built their homes with whatever they found, from wood to metal sheet. Painting was done almost in the same way using what they had, resulting in very colorful homes.

The following photos are from Caminito, which is a little colorful museum street. It was the artist Benito Quinquela Martin Chinchella [in 1959] who decided to paint it walls with different pastel colors to give this place the brightness it had before, when a train used to go through it streets until it was abandoned.

The name, Caminito [little path] was taken from the lyrics of a tango written by Juan de Dios Filiberto in 1926.

Both most relevant teams of argentine fútbol were born in La Boca: River Plate and Boca Juniors. Being myself a fan of River I find it hard to recommend you people to go to La Bombonera, the famous Boca stadium, but I do strongly recommend you to visit the best argentine stadium, El monumental, River’s stadium and where the national team always play ;-)

One last thing to mention is that, whether you like it or not, this is a very very photogenic spot. Though is not my favorite neighborhood I highly recommend it to those in the search of beautiful and colorful photos.

[Samsung PL150(TL210) 1/750s ã…£f/4.5 ã…£ISO 80ã…£7.8mm]

República de La Boca. Sounds like a separatist neighborhood but it isn´t ;)

[Samsung PL150(TL210) 1/750s ã…£f/4.5 ã…£ISO 80ã…£7.8mm]

1,2,3 Tango! This two were posing for a photographer and I “stole” this picture.

Oh, let me tell you I had to wake up very very early so that it could be possible to take photos without having one thousand tourists appearing on them.

[Samsung PL150(TL210) 1/180s ã…£f/3.5 ã…£ISO 80ã…£4.9mm]

So… this is an exclusive photo for all of you samsungimaging followers!!! ;)

Hello everyone, long time no posting.

I haven’t been feeling very well lately so do forgive me for not being able to communicate with you guys.

I have been quite down for the last two, three months, physically and mentally, but now I’m much better and came back to my easy, breezy, beautiful, happy, shiny, peaceful, bubbly Sara.

(Yes!! I’m going to be refusing to feel dark, down, sad, depressed and all the other bad things!)

Anyways, as I was coming back to Morocco in January, I stopped by Paris, France.

I stayed at the world-renowned sculptor Prof. Dong Lak Lim’s Paris home.

ST1000(CL65) │ 1.000s F3.6 │ ISO 200 │ 6.3mm │ Program Auto

After spending a night in Paris I woke up and opened the windows.

The fresh daybreak air made me fresh as well.

Looking at the luxurious villas on the hillside of 16th arrondissement of Paris brought back old memories.

ST1000(CL65) │ 1/20s │ F3.6 l ISO 200 l 6.3mm l Program Auto

Prof. Lim is known as one of the top ten artists in the world that Korea produced.

Sitting at the small table in the corner of the living room,

The pretty little sweet park by the house comes into the picture over the window.

ST1000(CL65) │ 1/10s │ F3.6 │ ISO 200 │ 6.3mm │ Program Auto

Prof. Lim concentrating on work with his computer.

ST1000(CL65) │ 1/20s │ F3.6 │ ISO 200 │ 6.3mm │ Program Auto

Looking at the picture on the living room wall, the roaring Pacific crossed my mind.

ST1000(CL65) │ 1/20s │ F3.6 │ ISO 200 │ 6.3mm │ Program Auto

Prof. Lim’s Europe exhibition posters were pasted on the wall.

ST1000(CL65) │ 1/10s │ F3.6 │ ISO 200 │ 6.3mm │ Program Auto

And on the speaker was a miniature of Prof. Lim’s art piece.

There were art pieces here and there making the whole house feel like a gallery.

Since there was some time left till getting on the plane to Morocco, I got out of the house for

a while. Looking at the Eiffel tower and Seine is always a pleasure to the heart and eyes.

A parisienne walking fast through the lonely streets.

ST1000(CL65) │ 1/250s │ F8.1 │ ISO 200 │ 6.3mm │ Program Auto

It is always overwhelming to see the beauty of the Eiffel Tower.

In the empty space on the first floor, some high school students are waiting to tour the museum.

ST1000(CL65) │ 1/125s │ F8.1 │ ISO 200 │ 6.3mm │ Program Auto

Sadly time didn’t allow me to go inside the museum.

The scattered groundwork on the garden seemed quite free.

The gift shop

Even the commercial gift shop seemed like a gallery.

The artificial canal flowing through <Le Musee du Quai Branly>

It brings about a lovely image going well with the nearby mansions.

ST1000(CL65) │ 1/45s │ F3.6 │ ISO 80 │ 6.3mm │ Program Auto

On the cornerstone at the corner of the garden, it says:

The garden of the Branly museum that was designed by Gilles Clement was made by the

support of the enterprise “Gaz de France”.

Aren’t the windows of the museum quite unique?

ST1000(CL65) │ 1/180s │ F3.6 │ ISO 80 │ 6.3mm │ Program Auto

In the spacious space there are several chairs so that even a quite decent meeting could take place.

I thought it would be a great place for the students to discuss after touring the museum.

ST1000(CL65) │ 1/250s │ F8.1 │ ISO 200 │ 6.3mm │ Program Auto

When Eiffel said he would put up a steel structure the Parisians of the day objected the idea by saying “We don’t need any hideous steel crumbs in Paris”.

However, the Eiffel Tower is now the symbol of Paris.

ST1000(CL65) │ 1/250s │ F3.6 │ ISO 200 │ 6.3mm │ Program Auto

We went into the cafe on the first floor of the museum.

The unique and clever chairs pleasantly welcomed us.

Hello, Twenty Ten! To celebrate the new year 2010, I went on a trip to Scotland that I’d been looking forward for so long. In Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, they have the “˜Hogmany festival’ at New year’s Eve which is one of the most celebrated winter and new year festivals in Europe.

Edinburgh isn’t a big city and the streets aren’t so complicated so you can fully enjoy the city by walking around. There were 2 things that surprised me when I arrived at Edinburgh. One was the pile of snow which you can hardly find in Britain and the other is the freezing cold weather; no wonder why there was such massive snow! But thankfully the sky was very clear and pretty that made me feel fresh while I was walking round.

ST500(TL220) │ 1/125s │ 3.5f │ ISO80 │ 4.9mm │ Program Auto

When you walk along Prince Street which separates the old and new town of Edinburgh, you’ll spot the giant eye-catching architecture burnt like black color. It’s the Scott’s Monument. They say that there are many mountains that consist of rocks in Scotland. Different from Britain where houses are built with bricks, buildings in Scotland are built of rocks dug out from the mountains. These architectures made out of rock seem to play a part in the antique and classical atmosphere of Edinburgh.

The whole city was hustle and bustle getting ready for the Hogmany festival. The concert stage was installed with the Edinburgh castle as the background, and over a background of thousand years old town buildings various rides and ice rink were available. The harmony between unharmonious things seemed very attractive.

When I was walking down Royal Mile crowded with most of the tourist sights, I was able to run into a couple of street artists. Especially, the man who is taking pictures with the tourists dressed like Mel Gibson from Brave Heart wearing the traditional Scottish costume is a celebrity at Royal Miles. Despite the cold weather, he was wearing a tartan skirt and was posing with a loud roar each time he was taking a picture with the tourists. I could tell how much he prides and loves Scotland from his passionate behavior.

ST500(TL220) │ 1/250s │ 3.5f │ ISO80 │ 4.8mm │ Program Auto

Among many things that represent Scotland, probably the check pattern is the most known. You can easily find souvenir shops that sell items with check patterns anywhere in Edinburgh. From 100% cashmere clothing and accessories to mugs, dolls etc… it seemed like everything you can make with check pattern was gathered. Even a cute dog with tartan check outfit!

80,000 people were waiting for the new year’s countdown dancing and singing along with the DJ. As if the whole city were a club, it was the moment when excitement was at a peak with the festive fever and excitement for the new year regardless of age and nationality.

ST500(TL220) │ 1/2s │ 3.5f │ ISO203 │ 6.6mm │ Program Auto

At Royal mile, as seen from the picture above, the giant candle became a chandelier and lit up the sky. Freezing tourists gathered around the candle to warm their frozen hands and feet.

ST500(TL220) │ 1/750 │ 3.5f │ ISO80 │ 4.9mm │ Program Auto

In Scotland, you can find tradition and people who proudly live the tradition. Following the tradition is their everyday life and something ordinary for them. I guess this is the reason why every year tourists flood to Scotland and Edinburgh and return home impressed, promising to visit again.
