The Camping Culture of Europe
Personally, the most important things in life are food, clothing, and shelter. However, these are only the necessary conditions, not the sufficiency ones. As people go on with life, they are bound to want to escape from their normal-everyday lives from time to time… [More]
The romantic nightscape of Europe
The early evening sky of Paris, France and the red car parked by Charles de Gaulle airport seemed to go so well together. July 29th 2009. The picture I took on the way to… [More]
Street Artists
While traveling Europe, one of the scenes that come across the most is the artists on the streets. Dreams and passions are felt at the tip of their fingers. Also, I could come across Europeans enjoying that culture quite often. As for me, if I see a painting at a museum that I had already come across before I just take a photo in front of it and move on to the next one. So I just basically look around whereas the Europeans seem to carefully appreciate… [More]
Swiss, Germany – A place I wish to stay
From time to time when I have a headache or feel tired, I walk the streets. Walking by colleges gives me an unknown energy and through a park or a quiet promenade, I get sentimental. How many streets would there be that give me energy? I took a look… [More]
Presence of mind in Nature
Just by looking into their lives an ease is felt. Other than the time they work, they use their times to enjoy themselves. Just by seeing them do this, they become the subject of envy and adoration. They buy something light to eat like bread and lay on the sunny green grass reading or having delightful conversations with friends. Also, they get together and play chess in the park. No sign of hastiness or anxiousness is to be found on their expressions. There are many times when we live as if we are being chased. We are so… [More]
Europe, Various Performances on the Street
Dancers on the streets of Champs-Élysées. This was the first street performance that came across on my Europe car trip. These two dancers captivated people in no time with just a radio ; no stage, no nothing. The performance at Wien Austria. However, I felt bad that it wasn’t able to draw much attention maybe because it wasn’t noticeable… [More]
The capital of France, Paris
A place where there are tourists from all over the world every day. So when I first got there, I expected a lot of traffic like Seoul. However, the Paris I saw was quite shocking. A lot of the citizens were on bicycles. These bicycles are called Velibs and are for public rental. From chic men in suits to young women in miniskirts were on velibs. There were a lot of bicycle stations here and there in the city. A bicycle would be lent at one of the stations and turned in at another when they had reached their… [More]
Walking with the Nature, Switzerland
If anybody asks which nation tries their best the most in preserving the nature, I’d pick Switzerland with no doubt. As you know, Swiss not only has an amazing landscape but that landscape goes so well with the atmosphere around it. The moment you open your eyes you face the awesome Alps, and maybe that’s why the Swiss constantly fight for nature… [More]
Impressive signage of Europe
Traveling around Europe for one month, I came across so many pretty signage – very effectively highlighting the characteristics of the store and still very beautiful. The signage in Korea which typically just reads the store name always left me frowning thinking that they damage the landscape. On the contrary, the cute and pretty signs I found in Europe… [More]
Art in the street
In the lives of the Europeans, art and culture is so close to them that if they reached out, they could just grasp it. Unknown artists paint on one street, and unknown singers sing on another. Also, they are generous with compliments. At places where there are many people, performance after performances take place, and when one is over, someone else comes up to start a new performance. I liked their culture. The free spirit that let them suddenly perform right in the middle of the street… [More]
Picturesque scenes in Switzerland 1
Switzerland – the second destination of my European tour. Switzerland is a country full of very clean nature and picturesque scenes. (Today, I want to share not the well-known familiar places but scenes that captured my attention and my camera.)… [More]
