I am finally in Europe! Coming to Europe was a long evasive dream which I could not realize because of lack of time and money. But, this summer vacation made me lucky and here I am in France!

Paris. One of the things that caught my attention was the bicycles lining up the road. At first, the people riding the bicycles appeared to be at risk, but it didn’t take long before I realized that bicycles are another type of vehicle in Europe. They followed the traffic light for cars.

It’s surprising that bicycles and cars can drive together on the same road without accidents. There were also paid bicycle rentals. You simply need to select the one that you like among the ones parked at the electronic bicycle parking lot, insert coins and press the numbers to rent it for a few hours. The bicycles were neatly organized that I felt like renting one for myself.

While walking on the street, when I casually turn my head towards the road, I see bicycles leisurely rolling in front of the car. While Koreans tend to consider bicycles as something you ride on your leisure time or to exercise, that is not the case for Europeans. Bicycles are an integral part of their lives and an official transportation comparable to cars. Of course, there were bicycles on the pavement. The bicycles use the bicycle road at the center of the pavement. The bicycle road tailored for both the pedestrians and bikers makes the whole road appear organized.

I said goodbye to Paris and moved on to Lyon. Just like Paris, Lyon also has many restaurants and cafes where you can spend time sitting on the outdoor terrace. People seemed to be enjoying the meal and conversation in the cozy outdoors. This is not something you can do in Seoul due to the noisy cars and exhaust gas. I want to enjoy this feeling to the fullest until I return to Seoul.
