Samsung IT100(SL820) awarded best point-and-shoot-camera for under 400$
Engadget, a leading, award-winning multilingual technology weblog and podcast about consumer electronics (Source: Wikipedia) recently reviewed some of the best and most-spread devices, and awarded our very-own Samsung IT100(SL820) as the “best point-and-shoot-camera for under 400$” .
The Samsung IT100(SL820), which has been introduced as the “most solid” and “most heft” device among the competitors, provides not only 720p video mode, making the IT100(SL820) the cheapest high-definition camera in the test, but also outshined them with another sky-high ISO setting of 3200.
Besides the Samsung IT100(SL820), the top digital imaging devices from Japan and America were tested on their “macro” , “close” , “Fully wide” , “Fully zoomed” , “Foreground object” , “Person” , “Artificial light” and “video-capture” functionalities.
Especially the test-results for the “macro”, “fully wide”, “person”, “artifical light” and “video mode”-functions seperated the SL820 from the competitor field.
Macro: “[...] it was the Samsung SL820 that came closest to reality, taking a very sharp image with accurate color representation [...]”
Fully wide: “[...] The SL820 and the TS1 show off their 28mm equivalent zooms, capturing more of the greenery than the other cams.”
Person: “[...] while the [...], Samsung SL820, and Casio FC100 all taking particularly good shot [...]”
Artificial light: “[...] The [...] took a bright, crisp shot, with the [...] and Samsung SL820 also impressing.”
Video-mode: “None of these cameras can do true double-duty work as a camcorder, but the Samsung SL820 comes awfully close. It offers 720p video and is one of only two cameras here that allow optical zooming while video is recording [...] — even if it does unfortunately mute the audio while doing so to drown out the noise of the motor. But, at all other times it captures (relatively) great sound to match the video.”
Furthermore, and Engadget wrapped up this review by stating:
“[" ] we liked the pictures coming from Samsung’s SL820 most consistently. This was a surprise, as it’s not the marque we’d have guessed would come out on top before we started testing, but it delivered the most consistently crisp, well-focused shots of the group, offers the highest quality video by a long shot, and feels bulletproof in the hand.”

the IT100 and SL820 ARE NOT the same, see the full specs in the samsung official page
The information from Engadget was helpful to know the differences in functionalites of different cameras. It looks like SL820 takes more LIKED categories than others.
congratulate SL820!!!
@rogers / Hello, Thank you for your interest. There is no difference between the IT100 and the SL820. However, the difference of name results due to the different market. The SL820 is only available in North-America, whereas the IT100 is the global model-name. For a detailed comparison of products, feel free to visit http://www.samsung.com and http://www.samsung.com/us. Thank you.
@rogers
You may be thinking of the TL100 which is a completely different series of camera from Samsung with some similar features.
